    ACUI is hoping to feature prayer/meditation/reflection spaces in an upcoming webinar. Does your union have a space that should be featured? Do you know of spaces at other institutions that should be featured? Reply with the institution, location of the space, and any features you think are special about it.

    Scarlett,

    At the UTSA Student Union, we do offer a meditation space for our students. This is how our space was initially advertised:

    "Starting a new semester can be stressful. Make sure you take care of your mind by resting and relaxing. The Student Union has a meditation room available during building hours for student use. Not sure how to meditate?  Join a guided meditation session offered monthly in collaboration with Counseling and Mental Health Services and Student Union Programs to learn more." Our website states, "Located on the second floor of the H-E-B Student Union, visitors can access the meditation room, an inclusive and tranquil space complete with yoga mats, prayer rugs, and ablution stations."

    I think our most unique feature is the Ablution Station to allow students to wash their lower extremities in observation of their religious observations. The Meditation Room is open to all students, faculty, and staff. I have attached a few photos for reference.

    We actually have a meditation room and we just created a sensory lounge in our space at UNC Greensboro.

    Hi Scarlett,

    UND's Memorial Union reflection room is described as:

    "This room is a quiet, informal space for drop-in use on a first-come, first-serve basis for small groups. This room offers minimal furnishings and audio-visual equipment. Additional equipment usage may be limited by event size and scope needs. It may be scheduled for organized events through the reservation request process for weekdays after 5:00pm and on weekends during normal building operating hours."

    Hi Scarlett!

    Last fall we expanded our reflection room in our student center, working closely with our Muslim Student Association to select the new finishes and re-design. We also added an extra layer under the carpet for prayer. Happy to chat further.
