Hi Chance,
There are different systems out there for travel limit. I would bet that even though the limit adjusted you might have over used the limit screw range. Typically you spec a screen with an amount of leader at the top so that the focal point drops in where you want it. Sure you can alter that but you would still be leaving screen on the roller. By leaving a good amount of material on the roller you might have a malfunction in the limit system. I have seen tensioned screens installed to trim at different heights to make ratios although they never work well as you need to have the curve on the screen mature for it to work right.
Without seeing your set up and heights it's hard to know exactly what you are dealing with. I have seen far better success with masking kits instead of using the screen motor to limit travel. For instance, if you have a tall space and want to cut the height, instead shorting how much unrolls, maybe it is wold be better to set up a short pipe and drape kit from the bottom on the floor. You will still get a finished look at the top this way.
Again not know the space so sorry if this won't help, if in theater type setting with any flyable curtains you can bring in a boarder to mask from the top so the screen is still being used within its normal range.
That last thing I will mention is that there are some neat motors out there that have more sophisticated limiting systems. Da Lite has a system now that is mated to the material and calibrated based on motor turns so that it is measuring the amount of screen you have unrolled. You create set point and then recall them instead of relying on the physical limit screw that fall out of adjustment.
