Service opportunities and lively discussions await members of the Seasoned Professionals and Retirees CoP at the Anaheim conference!  Please take note:
Thursday, March 22 - Community of Practice Fair, 4:45-5:45 pm. We welcome one volunteer to work with Sally at our recruitment/information table. Too much to ask? No worries - just stop by the table to say hello!
Friday, March 23, 8:30-9:30 am - The ever-capable Susan Payment has organized a session to provide retirement planning tips and options by a quartet of retirees.
Friday, March 23, 2:00-3:00 pm - The meeting of the Seasoned Professionals and Retirees Community of Practice.  What a great opportunity to share information and meet colleagues with 20+ years of experience!
Career Center - The new conference mentoring program organized by the Graduate Students and New Professionals Commuity of Practice has proven so popular that a sufficient number of mentors have already signed up. If you missed this opportunity, there are other ways that you can be a great help to job-seekers, as our community will continue to serve by reviewing resumes, career coaching, and/or conducting mock interviews at the Career Center, which is open from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm each day of the conference. Please stop by the Career Center to review resumes in the review folder, contacting the applicant to discuss your suggestions at your mutual convenience. You can also volunteer for Career Center (and other conference) duties at https://signup.com . Our wealth of knowledge and hiring experience are sure to be valuable to newer professionals during Career Chat times!
Social Time - last year's meeting attendees chose lunch as a possible community social event. Saturday is a free day for lunch (from 12:30-2:00 pm), and I have been exploring possibilities on line for us without notable success. Please let us know if you are personally familiar with the area near the hotel and can offer suggestions. We can also scope out possibilities early in the conference and, if successful in finding a suitable place, announce it at the meeting on Friday.
Have a great trip to Anaheim - we look forward to seeing you soon!

I’m local, maybe I can help you find a lunch spot for Saturday! If folks are willing to walk a little, there are some restaurants that are not too far. Of course there are plenty of cabs/ Uber at the hotel but I can think of a dozen nice places that are a half mile to 3/4 of a mile away- these are a 10-13 minute walk...
Email me and let’s talk!

Mary and Sally,  Good luck with your events for the Community in Anaheim.  I'd be interested in reading any ideas of services and needs that Community members may suggest.  One of my frequent issues is the flow of information from ACUI to retirees.  After the new web page was launched at last year's conference, I seemed to get markedly less email from ACUI, especially about regional activities.  I worked with the Central Ofice and the flow improved but sometimes it feels like I'm still missing info that I'd like to have.  What are others' experience?
