Did you know that we have 775 members of the Women’s Leadership CoP?! And yet, we all know that connecting online is a hard thing to do, even with that many people available. We are excited to launch a new community initiative that we hope will enable us to connect on a more personal level from within our group. Our Women’s Leadership Friends & Mentor Program is designed to allow an easy way for women looking for mentorship on a topic, or just a new friend who might share some commonalities with you.
We’re asking those who are willing to put themselves out there to complete a brief Google form with contact information and some topics you would be interested in either mentoring or just talking about. You will be able to remove yourself from the list at any time, if you want to, for any reason.
Those who aren’t ready to offer themselves up yet–and that’s okay!--will be able to view contact information and topics and can reach out.
To those of you who are immediately saying to yourselves, “But I can’t be a mentor! I’m not _______ enough!”: YES YOU CAN. Please see this quote from Maya Angelou:
"In order to be a mentor, and an effective one, you must care. You must care. You don't have know how many square miles are in Idaho, you don't need to know what is the chemical makeup of chemistry, or of blood or of water. Know what you know and care about the person, care about what you know and care about the person you're sharing with."
You cannot argue with Maya Angelou. It's the law.
So if you are interested in creating a new relationship, please fill out the form to make yourself available, or take a look to find yourself a potential new friend!
