South Dakota State University is currently in the process of standardizing our ticketing operations across the institution. Athletics, Performing Arts and all other ticketed events on campus will be using Paciolan. Our Athletics and Performing Arts areas will handle their own box offices, and our USU Event Services area will manage the rest of the university ticket requests for student events/festivals, concerts, lectures, Art Museum functions, etc. We are looking at creating a position to manage not only the ticketing, but to also serve as an "external scheduling coordinator." The position would be external in the sense that they would assist in handling event details for events held in campus areas that don't have dedicated event staff. (example: non athletic outdoor areas, academic classrooms) They will collect event details and work with our central services folks to deliver tables, chairs, garbage cans to event areas. Make sure that the landscaping crews are aware of events, electric is on, sprinkler systems are off at event times.
This is a brand new position for our University. I'm in the process of writing a job description and thought i would reach out to see if other universities had similar positions and ask if we could get copies of your job descriptions to use as a template (either a ticketing manager or an 'external' scheduling manager or both). It would also be interesting to hear what's worked with your areas, and what pitfalls you would suggest to avoid.
Thanks for any info you're able to share.
