Hm, that's an interesting inquiry. I think I am curious if there is specifics about the venue/space you are trying to "dress" and cost restrictions. I don't want to say disco balls are
unpopular, especially since fashion wise the 70s disco aesthetic has been more popular of late but I don't believe it's the preferred lighting option for today's students.
I have tossed some ideas around in my head for a while now about lighting options that have longevity on use and can be adaptable for future use. One of them semi tech wise that has been very popular is LED (sound reactive or static with remote color change) a la the following look. There is a variety of options on implementation that ranges in pricing or permeance to walls, style, etc. You could also go for something vertical and minimal, and easily moveable like the following light "lamp" sample. Easy way to splash colors if you have a discreet spot for cord placement.

Lastly, a bigger investment that I have been intrigued in purchasing for our events is a mini AR mapping device called Lightform. I think it can add some "wow" easily for those bigger events by enhancing lighting on decor items, murals, or other focal points in an event space set up.
Lastly, friendly reminder with any of these implementations is those with visual sensitivities like epileptic shock etc. So consider the rate and appearance of such lighting if and when in use. Keep the thread updated with any solution that is chosen for the space, cheers!

Subject: Visual attraction for major event space
Hello,
I have been asked for my opinion as to what would be good visual effect/attraction for a large event space.
Does anyone have any personal experience along with current student feedback on how popular the "classic" disco ball is?
I would also appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks!
Make it a great day!!!
