COVID-19 Procedures for Non-University User Groups Accessing Facilities

    Hello ACUI,

As we fast approach the summer break the University of the Pacific is preparing for our summer rental groups.  I'm reaching out to learn more about how your institutions are handling Covid-19 procedures for external groups coming to your respective campuses.

Information I'm looking to gather includes the following:
Is your institution requiring proof of vaccination prior to access to campus?
If yes, is your institution allowing declinations (religious or medical)?
How is your institution planning on tracking this information for Non-University User Groups?
Who is responsible for maintaining the records?

Thank you in advance for the help!

    Hello Mark,

I just got off a regional ACCED-I meeting where this was the main topic as well.  Happy to give some answers from UVM.

Is your institution requiring proof of vaccination prior to access to campus?  Currently NO.  For the summer, we are planning on it being required for all groups regardless of it they are overnight or not.  That may change as things continue to improve... we will see.  Currently we say it is "expected" that guests are vaccinated.
If yes, is your institution allowing declinations (religious or medical)?  Once we get to summer and it is required, we would require medical documentation from an health care provider who is authorized to prescribe vaccines.  For religious exemptions, we are taking them at their word as this gets challenging to debate.
How is your institution planning on tracking this information for Non-University User Groups?  We are not.  It will be up to the contracted external client to be responsible to track and manage.  This expectation is part of an additional COVID addendum we issue with all contracts.
Who is responsible for maintaining the records? The external client would keep.  UVM will not manage this content.

One additional info that may be useful... UVM is not going to provide isolation housing to overnight summer groups.  Anyone who tests positive (I am planning on having a supply of rapid tests clients could use for a participant that we would add a cost to their invoice if needed) would have to leave campus.  Several of the other institutions on the ACCED-I Zoom today have similar plans.

    Hope this helps.
    Allen
