Hello! New Community of Practice Leader Introduction

Posted by Veronica Perondi on May 28, 2019 10:50 am

Good Morning everyone!

My name is Veronica Perondi, and I along with Darin Martin, will be your new Campus Activities and Program Management Community of Practice co-Leader! I am really excited to take on this role, as this COMP is where I first started to feel welcome within ACUI and understand the importance of programs within the student union. I am the A.S. Programs Coordinator at the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union at San Diego State University. I look after all programs in Associated Students, a student directed auxillary, and advise the Aztec Student Union Board which oversees programming in and operations of the Aztec Student Union. This role includes Homecoming, GreenFest (a week long series of sustainable events culminating in a concert), advising the Executive Vice President on their events, and the additional 90+ programs ASUB plans.

I am a born and raised San Diegan, although I did my undergrad at San Francisco State, I couldn't bring myself to leave California or San Diego for that matter. I majored in International Relations, with a minor in European Area Studies and Italian, with the hopes of being a spy one day. Life throws you curve balls and I ended up following my passion of working with students, which isn't too surprising since both my parents are teachers and my husband works in education.

As Darin and I transition and train for our new roles, I want to learn what you all are interested in getting out of being a part of this community. It's a very broad content area, and there are many facets we have the opportunity to cover.

My question to all of you to start, would creating a spreadsheet or index of programs that we all have planned be helpful? Every summer I have my student assistants compile a presentation of events that have taken place at other universities as inspiration for my board to plan their events. I thought that having a living list of programs and events, with a short description would help everyone bring new ideas to their space.

I look forward to connecting with all of you and hopefully meet you at the next Annual conference!
