Seeking advice / template for Student Union Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Control Plan

Posted by Brian Koehler on May 4, 2018 6:45 pm

Good afternoon team!

We have a new EH&S manager on campus...we can hear the boots coming down the hall!

New guy = extra work to catch up on what has not historically been done "to code"

Any templates or advice / similar growing pains you may be able to share would be much appreciated!  Please feel free to reach out to me directly off-line as well!

Thank you in advance!

Hi Brian,
We recently went through a realignment of our EH&S group on campus, and of course it brought some large (and expensive) requirements along with it.
We don't have an exposure plan in the union. Our custodial services are contracted, and the university puts BBP on them. However, EH&S recently changed our AED certification program to include a requirement for BBP training for all staff certified in first aid/AED. The down side is that my department is responsible for costs associated with any training. So we contract out to a company for CPR/AED/BBP once a year to cover new employees.
This might not directly address your questions, but I'm hoping gets a discussion going!
