Game Room Maintenance

Posted by Kiley Cinelli on Jun 19, 2019 4:15 pm

I was wondering if anyone could share their daily, weekly, monthly, semesterly, or yearly (any of these) plans for game room maintenance? We completed a renovation and have built up our Game Room inventory over the past year or so but do not have any clear plans for maintenance and running the space? Any policies, documents, or advice would be helpful (including student staff job descriptions).

Hey Kiley,

I don't have any information on this directly, but I worked with a game room during my grad work at VCU. I would reach out to them at and see if they would be willing to send you some information.

Can you tell us what you have in your Game Room? It will be different if you have bowling lanes and pool tables or just pool tables. I can send you what we do, if I knew what you have. We have bowling, billiards, foosball and table tennis.

Thank you Nick. I reached out!

Thank you Charlotte!

We have 4 pool tables, 2 PS4, 2 Xbox, Shuffleboard, Air Hockey, and 4 ping pong tables. Any information would be super helpful at this point in the process.

I cannot speak to everything you have but I will tell you what we do with what we have.

Pool tables - We brush our pool tables daily and in a busy time (Fall and Spring), we vacuum the tables every other week. I got a hand vacuum that does not have a very strong suction and I took off the brush. This way it is not stretching the felt and not hurting the nap on the felt. we also clean the rails with furniture polish. We check the pockets to make sure they are still secure as we are clean the table. We have our tables recovered and leveled  once a year.

Air Hockey table - We do not have one any longer and when we did, we did not own it, so anything past cleaning it once in a while, was done by someone else. We cleaned the top with glass cleaner to keep the dust off of it.

Ping pong tables - I wipe them down with a rag that has furniture polish on it, once a week. They are right next to my office so daily I am looking at the nets, making sure theya re all good and correct height.
