Portable Dance Floor?

Posted by Paige Brassart on Apr 12, 2019 5:26 pm

Hello!

Our ballrooms are currently undergoing major renovations, and we will be moving from terrazzo floors to carpet - which means no more built in dance floors.

We are looking into purchasing a portable dance floor, and wondered if anyone has had experience with the Magnattach by MityLite?  Or if anyone has a different product that they could recommend?  We are looking for something fairly user friendly since our student staff will be responsible for set up/breakdown.  We host a quite a few wedding receptions and other external social events, so having an attractive dance floor in house is also important.

Thanks!

We’ve had the Magnattach dance floor from MityLite for 3 years now. It was one of the first purchases I made when I started my current position. Our staff really seems to like it, no moving parts helps out with things less likely to break. It was pricey, but I think it is better than what we were using previously and spending lots of time for set up/breakdown.

Paige,

We bought the magnattach a couple of years and have been pleased with it.  We chose that over others since there are no moving parts with it.  I will tell you that the videos that Mity-lite have that shows it going up in 7 minutes are a little misleading.  It definitely takes more like 30-45 minutes to set it up with a little less time to take down.  The problem comes down to experience in doing it.  We only use it 4 or 5 times a year with so the students setting it up don't get to do it very often which leads to longer install times.  I also like the fact a 16' x 24' can fit on one cart.

Hope that helps.

Jeff

Hello Paige,

About 4 years ago we purchased a product called Florlok.  It's not cheap but we really like it, and I'm confident it will last for many years.  Very sturdy, easy to assemble, looks great.  If you have the budget, you should look into it.  Link to company that sold it to us (Event Equipment Sales out of Chicago):
