Loading Docks

Greetings members of the Facilities and Operations CoP!

ACUI Bulletin is looking to do something of a light-hearted piece on union and student center loading docks ... the good, the bad, the unique, their unique uses, etc. We've heard about a few in each category and wanted to send a call out for additional stories, reflections, pictures, like....

If you have a new or renovated loading dock, what are the technical aspects that improved use respective to the former one?

Has your loading dock been used for anything besides loading or unloading, like a concert stage, a used book sale or furniture sale site, etc.?

Is your loading dock unique in that it's underground, does it have a turntable for trucks, etc.?

If you can contribute or refer us to someone who might like to, please contact ACUI Bulletin off-page at schaplin@acui.org. Many thanks!

Do front doors as loading docks count? :)

Another fun topic: Things you've had turned in to lost and found.

Mark Johnson at Bridgewater State oversaw the theater in the campus center, when I interned there. He helped run an "arts festival" on the loading dock. Not sure if they still do this - or if he would be the contact, as he's now in the events department.
