Crowd Manager Training

Good afternoon,

Please forgive the cross-posting (also posted in the Emergency Management COP).

I'm curious if anyone has created their own in-house crowd manager training presentation, vs. using  We're moving towards providing our own in-house at the recommendation of our fire marshall.

Thanks in advance for any assistance anyone can provide.

With the support from our local fire marshal, we've used You-Tube available video and simulations from the Rhode Island nightclub fire to reinforce to our events staff how and why we maintain certain aisle-ways, access to doorways, egress routes, emergency lighting and max occupancies in our facilities. They then participate in an in-building fire drill and practice clearing the building using our evacuation drill cards. Working with your fire marshal on the content is beneficial and needed, but we were not surprised to find that our in-house pro-staff are better at training student employees and meeting learning objectives than he is with his doom and gloom video and mandatory workshop.

Here at West Texas A&M University, we use the International Association of Venue Managers.  The first module is pretty extensive and long but it is all good information and very helpful.  There is a second part to the training for your own specific facility.  While the training is pretty extensive, it does help ensure your staff is ready for an emergency.

Let me know if you would like to talk more,

Good Morning,

This is very interesting content for me, as we are looking at improvements to our emergency preparedness training. Can somebody tell me more about what is covered in the training? I went to the site, but they don't really share much information about the topics covered.

Thank you.

Morning! I'm with Event & Venue Management at Kennesaw State.  We do the two part IAVM Trained Crowd Manager program, which includes a 6 hours online training and then a venue specific training created by our team.  Happy to connect you with our training team!
