    Hey All,

My University system is anticipating having some students back in the fall. I am reaching to those that are open, and those planning, what guidelines are you using for your room set ups?

For instance are you measuring in a theatre style- 6 feet from the center of each chair or the edges?

How does that work with tables?

Would love to hear some thoughts/see some guidelines.

    Thanks

    Hi Tony,
Currently we are using a classroom setup with our movable tables in chairs. We are using our 6' tables and either placing one chair at each table. Then the table in front would be 6' away from the chair position with chairs being placed adjacent to each other so that no chair is directly behind another. If we use Theater Style, chairs in rows then we make sure the chairs are 6' apart from the the edges of the chairs not the middle. We do our setups according to what code our University is in. https://www.emory.edu/forward/resources/policies-guidelines-protocols/event-gathering.html  You can check out what each code stands for. Check out the PDF that explains how many people or if food is allowed. Then we set rooms accordingly.

Hope that helps but if you have any other questions I would be happy to try and answer them.

    Hi Tony,

We have created multiple social distance setups in our diagramming tool Social Tables. We keep these on hand as the only option for events right now. To be safe, we measure 6ft between each edge of chairs and tables to make sure there is truly 6+ft of space between attendees. Additionally, we try to allow for ease of movement (ingress and egress) without attendees coming into close contact with other guests. Additionally, we allow more than 6ft from the podium to the first front facing guest. Speakers may take their mask off while speaking at the podium so we allow more space. I will attach a few sample diagrams.

Our capacity has decreased significantly with these setups, but we are not hosting events over 50 people anyway. We tried to maintain options for setups in some of the rooms (i.e. choice of classroom, rounds, u-shape rather than theatre only).

    I hope this helps!
