I co-chair our staff development and appreciation committee and we've come a point where ideas are harder to come by and would welcome some input as to what others in the field are doing and bringing to their staff. Time and resources are limited, yet I'd like to bring something quality to our staff. I'd welcome ideas from others who are trying to engage their staff and bring in relevant trainings or appreciation ideas. Thank you!

    Christina,

Our Student Affairs division at Northwestern brought in Kathy Obear for a training/workshop on institutional racism. Below is her most recent email about her live mini course this week, but she does online learning opps quite frequently, as well as her in-person sessions. Her contact information is at the bottom of the email.

    Hi Kim,

What's one of the biggest lies I've ever heard?

That you can't do anything to interrupt & dismantle institutional racism.

    You CAN!

    How? Learn more here.

To effectively partner with people of color and create more racially just organizations, it's imperative that we first heal ourselves from the white supremist beliefs we were taught (and may still be unconsciously holding onto).

I can show you how in my brand new, 3-session LIVE mini-course debuting in just a few days on 2/28, Leading White Accountability Spaces in Your Organization.

Please tell your friends and colleagues about my powerful new course, too!

Have questions for me? I'm always just an email away – reach out anytime.

I hope to "see" you on the 28th!

    To Your Success!
    Kathy

+1 for Dr Obear. She's been to our institution multiple times. She strikes a good balance between theory and practice.

Conducting sessions on how your staff feel appreciated may be a great starting point to  enhance your staff development & appreciation strategies.
