    Hi y'all!
We're beginning to dive deeper into planning our film schedule for the fall. Pre-covid as well as last year, we would show films on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at 6:30 & 9pm; however, attendance has been down for us in both instances despite selecting films that can attract different audiences. During covid and our limited capacities we did movie brackets on our Instagram for students to vote on theme week films such as Musicals, Sports, Superheroes and 80s to try to hit our maximum. They attracted our bigger audiences, but not what we hoped.

Moving forward, what is your institution doing to bring people to your movie showings? Any successful marketing tactics or pre/post movie programming? What is your weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, etc. schedule? Any and all information is helpful.

We host a weekly film series.  Pre COVID we had showings Fridays at 7:00 p.m. and Saturdays at 7:00 p.m. & 10:00 p.m.  For the fall we're removing the 10:00 p.m. showing, but will reassess at before the spring.  As for the films we show, we show a variety from different genres.  The two caveats we have are (1) we select films that were or are at least anticipated to be big blockbusters and (2) they're pre-home release (so not in the theaters anymore but not yet available via DVD/Blu-Ray/streaming).  We've found that most Pixar and Marvel movies bring in big crowds.  As well as horror films oddly enough.  Everything else is hit or miss.

We've done a Throwback Film Series.  That was a bit of a struggle.  We also did an Animated Series this past spring, but it was in the middle of COVID-related capacity restrictions.  So I'm not sure if the low attendance was due to that, or just students weren't interested in the series.
