  • 1.  EMS Question Regarding Catering

    Our Catering department like many others is having trouble fully staffing their operations.  They have asked us if we could block out certain date ranges when they get overwhelmed by the number of events on the schedule.  We have not been able to come up with any recommendations for them except to extend the minimum lead time from 5 business days to 10 business days to allow them more time to prepare.  I'm wondering if anyone else has come up with some other type of work around or creative solution in a similar situation.  Thanks in advance for any responses.

    We have a campus partner that does all catering on campus, they do their catering orders separate from EMS but when they get overwhelmed or fully booked, they allow groups to get off campus catering. That could be one way to continue allowing events.

    Hi Scott,

    This is a tricky scenario! I would suggest you explore setting inventory on your catering items, that way only a certain number of each catering item can be ordered at once. This is not a perfect solution, but it may help you control volume while you are short-staffed. In the resource configuration menu you can use the "wizard" button to enforce an inventory/max quantity for all resources at once. When your operations return to normal, you can use the wizard to remove the inventory setting.
